Meet the Founder: Remy Ivo Lupamba – The Story Behind Dr. Drone

From the coffee fields of Arusha to the skies above Tanzania, Remy Ivo Lupamba, widely known as Dr. Drone, has carved a unique path powered by passion, innovation, and resilience. Originally on track to become a medical doctor, Remy made a bold decision to follow his true calling — technology and electronics.

His journey began early. As a child, Remy showed an uncanny curiosity for how things worked. By Standard five, he was already opening up radios, experimenting with wires, and storing electronic components in his schoolbag — or hiding them under bridges on his way to school. Inspired by his father, who wired their home without formal training, Remy found his spark in electricity and invention.

He didn’t just stop at curiosity. By Standard Six, Remy had successfully built a homemade radio transmitter, launching his own mini radio station from home. That was just the beginning. He tried building a helicopter from salvaged motors, experimented with solar systems, and even attempted creating a DIY refrigerator — all before finishing primary school.

Though his path was unconventional, his determination never wavered. While excelling academically, especially in Physics, Remy continued to refine his technical skills — wiring classrooms, repairing electronics, and guiding classmates through tough lessons. His reputation as a self-taught tech genius began to grow.

Today, Remy is the founder and CEO of Dr. Drone and Camera Tanzania, a company that leads the way in drone and camera repairs, pilot and equipment hiring, aerial photography, and precision agriculture solutions. He also runs Dr. Drone Electronics and Accessories, supplying essential tech gear to the local market.

But his mission goes beyond business. Remy is building a movement — establishing youth innovation centers, drone competitions, and nurturing the next generation of Tanzanian tech leaders. His dreams? Building a Cri-Cri aircraft, launching a rocket, and helping Africa rise through innovation.
